SYNOPSIS

On a beach in the 1970's, two dudes invented hacky-sack, a game which embodies values of teamwork, having fun and being a good person.

In 2004, Jason and his mates have gone camping. During the morning, their tent is invaded by two mysterious strangers, Vic and Pat, who subdue them and steal their camping equipment. Vic, however, recognises Jason from her past, but she is urged by Pat to keep moving, so they run away.

Jason, Mike and Gavin are confused but not overly distressed by the theft of the camping gear. They are more frustrated that they no longer have the key to unlock their esky which contains the rest of their beer. Jason opts to go off in search of any witnesses.

Unable to make a getaway due to car trouble, Vic tells her boss, Tony, about her feelings of guilt regarding Jason. She recalls in high school how she had saved him from getting beaten up, and it seemed wrong to be now doing him a disservice like this.

Following the sound of the struggling engine, Jason finds the stranded thieves and offers to give them a hand fixing their engine. Tony allows him to help, and as Jason repairs the engine, he recognises Vic and excitedly thanks her for what she did for him back in high school. The thieves are about to get away at their victim's expense.

Wracked with guilt, but not wanting to betray her new employer either, Vic takes a gamble: she challenges Pat to a contest of camping karate (in which both participants wear hiking backpacks)-- first backpack to hit the ground loses. If Vic wins, Jason will get his stuff back.

Offered the wager, Tony and Pat agree and the fight is on.

As Vic and Pat face off, Tony and Jason sit down to watch. The girls fight with tenacity while Tony explains to Jason why they stole his tent, then the topic moves onto sports, and the similarities between hacky-sack and kung-fu.

Eventually, Vic and Pat both fall on the ground at the same time and draw equal. Seeing the good in what Vic has done, and also taking a liking to Jason's amiable personality during the fight, Tony decides to allow Vic to return the camping equipment.

Afterwards, Vic and Jason return together to the campsite, catch up with Gavin and Mike, open a few beers and play some hacky-sack.
